Gadgets We Like: picplz Mobile Photo Sharing App

By Jacqueline Rosokoff (TuneCore Staff)

I’m always filling my friends’ phones with pictures I take of street musicians and silly looking dogs, and I thought this app, picplz, looked pretty neat!

picplz is a free (I’m definitely cool with that), mobile app that lets you snap and share photos with your friends and fans on your iPhone or Android.

Upload and share photos of an impromptu jam session on the beach, or a quick shot of a packed audience on tour.  You can also add cool effects to your photos to make them look like they’re from the 70s, or were taken from an instant camera.

Once you’ve uploaded and edited the photos, you can share them on Facebook and Twitter to show everyone what you’re up to.

I better start snapping away!

How is this different from the photo apps we already have on our phones?

  • Josh

@ Dennis – Josh from picplz here. We have a combination of features that are very relevant for bands and artists of any size:
    – Geo-tagging to show where pic was taken (fans can see venues, track a tour)
    – Filters can be applied for interesting effects (e.g. – black and white, cross-process, etc.)
    – One click sends posted pictures to multiple linked accounts at your election (Twitter, FB, Tumblr, Flickr and others)
    – Fans that follow you on Twitter of Facebook will automatically follow you on picplz once signed up
    – Ability to convert new fans and followers from picplz users who discover your photos on the site
    – Clean, uncluttered pages for your profile and individual picture pages
    – Ability to converse/interact with fans through comments on every photo
    – No ads around your photos as found on other sites who do not even share any resulting revenue
Hope this is helpful, let me know if you have any questions.
