What does an artist or a band have to do, in order to be featured on itunes ?

    • Anonymous

      Hi Farid,

All releases through TuneCore are available for feature consideration by iTunes and other store’s editorial teams. Featured releases are almost always new or recent releases; albums are more often featured than singles too. Factors including sales history, marketing plans, social and fan reach, and other sales drivers are often weighed when considering for features. Distributing with some lead time is suggested as well.

There is no pay for marketing with TuneCore, it’s just what we do.

You can send your marketing plans including your sales history and outreach numbers (Facebook fans, Twitter followers, email list…) to artistpromotion@tunecore.com. And send us details if you have secured a TV placement, a big tour, or other sales drivers too—love to have all of the ammunition possible to try and get more TuneCore Artists featured in iTunes and other stores. Ideally you can send your release details three weeks before street date, as stores primarily feature new releases and lead time is key.

You know Farid, I’m with you on this subject…I’m extremely interested in how some artists get featured in iTunes…while others do not. Is it frankly that these artist are assumed to have “good” songs for the customer base they originally intended to reach with their service or.. what? How DO you get featured in iTunes???

    check out One Stem

  • Truth Seeker

One Stem is the artist and the album name is Wisdom. Cool beats and a very good song called revolution. That one had me thinking. Although my favorite was SMAH. I like the idea of blending instrumentals with other songs that have words. Very different indeed.
