TuneCore And Topspin Integrate, Offer Artists Entire Music Industry Under One Roof

By Jeff Price

For those of you who don’t know Topspin, you should. It’s a great company, actually the best in the world at what it does.

Topspin allows artists to sell their music, merchandise and tickets directly to their fans. It also has a killer software application that artists can use to acquire new fans while learning what works/does not work to gain them.

The people who run it are good people.  The artists that use Topspin are the who’s who of credibility—Nine Inch Nails, The Pixies, The Doors, the Beastie Boys and many, many more.

They’re good, very good, at what they do.

I thought a lot about building this same functionality at TuneCore, and then asked myself why?  Someone I like and respect has already done it; why not just partner with them and have the entire music industry under one roof?

We offer their customers something special; they offer TuneCore artists something special; and we technically integrate.

It’s now happened…

    I am a but surprised that tunecore would partner up with a company that takes a cut of the artist revenue and charges them a monthly fee.  That seems to go away from the spirit of not touching the artist royalties and that could create a back lash. Remember what happen with netflix earlier this year

      @Jrabellard

      TopSpin has to two products – one is a software you can license that helps you acquire new fans (and provides you lots of metrics around what works and what doesnt work)
      This product costs a monthly fee to license

      The second is direct fans to sales of merchandise, tickets or digital media files like music. It includes “widgets” to post around the net. TopSpin warehouses your merchandise and when orders come in pick, pack and ship them out. They also handle all the customer service issues.
      This product charges a % of the direct to fan sale

      You can use one, the other, both or none. The choiche is yours
