Aashiq Al-Rasul

Aashiq Al-Rasul’s vision is that “Through creating contemporary, positive and reflective music Aashiq Al-Rasul intend to increase people’s understanding of one another to help build social bridges globally whilst working with all faiths and cultures towards sharing a message of peace, love and hope.”

For the past 14 years, Aashiq Al-Rasul have worked towards social cohesion, in the UK and worldwide. There are many highlights of this work including a cultural visit to Indonesia, co-founding ‘Musituality’ to create concerts combining different kinds of spiritual and religious music side by side in one inspirational and moving event and collaborating with others (locally and internationally) to communicate a message of peace and harmony.

Aashiq Al-Rasul conduct workshops in schools, mentor nasheed clubs and provide performance demonstrations for students giving children a chance to develop their own latent creative talents. A central part of our work is to guide young people to express themselves through the medium of music and to work with others to gain confidence, self-belief and ultimately be responsible and feel part of a community.

Liner Notes: Muhammad (pbuh) was a man, not a god nor an angel; but as a diamond is a rock so to every rock is not a diamond. He holds a special place in human history, having played a significant role on the course of shaping civilization for over 1400 years as he continues to impact on world events in our time. There is however an anti-Muhammad rhetoric from his opponents and the hypocrites within that has echoed through the centuries from the inception of his mission to date. Today it's the Danish cartoon caricature, in his time it was the poets. In his time it was the munafiq who plotted in secrecy today it's those who by their sordid and vile militancy bring his message and exemplary conduct into disrepute. What was Muhammad's purpose, his message, his mission, his raison d'être? The following hadith captures the spirit of his humanity:"Oh People! Spread Peace! And feed those of you in need, and pray in the night when everyone are asleep, then you will enter Heaven in peace.“ Perhaps shocking to many of the charlatans who claim him today. This album, combining the earlier Sultan of Madinah and Blessed Mustafa, presents lyrically “The Essence of al-Mustafa (the Chosen One)” . From the first track The Call to Prayer to the last Parho Kalimah uses the language of music as a means to communicate the stature, message and mission of the best of creation, Muhammad (pbuh).

Liner Notes: All of humanity is united by a cosmic journey through life. Mankind is constantly in a state of pilgrimage. Whether from home to work, from a prayer to another, visiting a friend, the sick, a scholar, we are reminded of the ultimate journey back to our Lord. While our lives originate from God Almighty and may take sometimes wondrous or unexpected turns, the script must eventually end. Whatever the degree of our perception, time ebs and flows, filling us with joy or sorrow, until our souls return to its Beloved Creator. Pilgrims we all are, seeking nourishment for souls that desires nothing more than to taste the fruits of the primordial garden which it once relished. Simulating life, the Pilgrimage (Hajj) represents man’s tumultuous struggle from the darkness of this world to the light of Divine beauty. In a world that has emptied out its spirituality, mankind now thirsts for the serenity that comes from loving his Creator. Prophet Muhammad is our guide who illuminates the path to all that pleases God Almighty. For this we are eternally grateful and praise Almighty God by sending salutations on His esteemed Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him). This album seeks to uplift the human spirit and delight the soul with love for the Divine and to remind us to be grateful for the favours we’ve been blessed with.
