Alan Dyson is a Louisiana song writer and multi-disciplinary artist. "Stray Dogs by the Highway" is the result of a 16 year collaboration with American poet David Love Lewis. Produced by jazz guitarist Erich Avinger, this album is rich with the humid intensity of the American South.
Leaning into the canon of American poetry and music, this work is a well-simmered kinesis of William Faulkner, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, Randy Newman, Huddie Ledbetter and Leonard Cohen.
Lewis, Dyson and Avinger are Southern artists motivated by the hypnotic Om of the cicada, the hum of road, and the mantra of familiar hymns permeating the piney woods of East Texas and Northwest Louisiana.
