Asim Sujud is a conscious/positive Hip Hop artist born in Newark,NJ. Before he became Asim Sujud, he was a seasoned artist that went by the name of skullygoldieslick. Under this stage name, he performed for many years at the House of Blues and Live Nations as an opening act for such names as Nas, Kid Cudi, 50 Cent, Musiq Soulchild, Fabulous, Red and Method Man, a few rock bands, etc. and his career as an entertainer and professional hip-hop artist was really starting to take shape.
However, in 2007 the untimely death of his younger brother and then the sudden death of his mother a year later caused Asim to re-evaluate his life and to think about what was really important in his life. Over the course of the next 2 years, he was still performing at the House of Blues and Live Nations at various venues and was acting in a few independant and major films, but still felt something was missing.
Finally in 2010, he decided he wanted to become more spiritually connected to his religion and no longer wanted to do meaningless music. At this point "skully" re-emerged as Asim Sujud and turned away completely from his previous life. Asim says, " If I am going to perform in front of thousands of people, I want to say something that is going to touch the people and have a true message, not just entertain. And the truest message I have is the message of Islam."
Asim Sujud is currently moving as an independent artist.
