Carina Ayden

Carina Ayden is a singer and a songwriter.

She was exposed to music very early in life at the age of four years old. As a youth, her passion was figure skating and ballet. She dreamt of competing on the world stage. Carina began skating when she was five. Unfortunately, due to a life-threatening back injury that occurred on the ice at the age of nine, she was unable to pursue her dream.

When she realized that she would never be able to skate or dance, she turned to music.

Although her family didn't support Carina in her decision, she would not be thwarted. When she was eleven, she would sneak out of the house to take guitar lessons. She was forced to stop as soon as her family found out. They wanted her to concentrate on her studies.

Graduating from the University with a major in linguistics, Carina published a text-book. However, music was always in her life, so when the opportunity presented itself she started performing with different jazz-rock bands. She collaborated with several songwriters and recorded several demos while still looking for "her sound". While very young, Carina travelled all over the world and lived in numerous countries. Being of mixed heritage herself, she was exposed to multiple cultures and traditions which were later reflected in her music. Her roots lie in traditional rock with some aspects of grunge.

Carina exposes herself in her debut album "Shrinkology" without leaving anything behind. It is a very personal, yet daring record. Being environmentally conscious, she couldn't avoid this subject in her song "Hey". The single "Therapy" is a great example of how two contradictory ideas like vulnerability and aggression are intelligently sewn together in her music. "Funeral of Zombies", the 4th track on the EP, is dedicated to all the victims of genocide. Many different themes blend together in "Shrinkology": from genocide to animal abuse, from being and living under pressure to freedom, and from dark depression to finding peace within...
