E.L.I.-The Alien of the Year
E.L.I. (formerly known as ELIYE), born in Inglewood California at Daniel Freeman Hospital July 23, is truly the next big name in the game.
Then where has he been? It’s sad to say but he has so much talent that he is actually feared by other aspiring artists and producers.
They know when he is in the booth, they have no choice but to bring there A-game.
He sets a higher standard. There is no bullshitting, he is the truth, and will take the industry by storm.
E.L.I. became a fan of hip-hop in the early 80’s and immediately started writing his own music.
He wrote his first rhyme at 5 years old and developed a fan base at his elementary school in Atlanta GA.
Where he resided until the age of 13 before his mother became gravely ill and had to move her and her two children to yet another state, Phoenix, AZ. and then back to Atlanta at the age of 18.
His ability to write mind-blowing hooks, and heart pounding lyrics stems from his diverse upbringing.
Because of this he doesn't just have one style, he has many.
Tracks like Mo Pimpn and Bag Full of Money have more of a down south feel, where songs like Switchin Lanes and Stay Getting Mine have an underground west coast appeal.
He started out recording in his older brothers (Fats Royal) studio in Inglewood. The tracks were hot, but it was only the beginning.
In 1998 he printed his first cassette tape “Concrete Reality”.
The response was overwhelming, selling over 5,000 units out of a hertz rental car where he was formerly employed.
His destiny became clear. A 9 to 5 was not living up to his full potential, his future was in music.
He continued doing shows in Atlanta and Miami until he dropped his third mix tape “Work Like A Dog Eat Like A King”.
He has a comical flow but still keeps it street!
He refrains from bragging about material possessions or fictional trap house tales, and takes the honest approach.
Which places him above the false marketing tactics we see today.
“ What you see is what you get. I only rap about things I’ve done or will do in the future. I’m not in to mis- leading my fans, you don’t have to lie to be considered real” says E.L.I.
There are other artists that plan to join him on his quest for stardom, but for now he is definitely blazing the path all on his own.
Any record label that would be smart enough to invest in this future musical mogul would see a huge profit. 2009 is the year for hip-hop to make a comeback. E.L.I. is just the man for the job.
Don’t sleep, or front on this guy. He is built for this industry, and his music speaks for itself. 2009 welcomes E.L.I., “The Alien of the year”
