LINER NOTES:
In 1990 my father bought for me an Ensoniq EPS 16+ sampling workstation. With an arsenal of 8 tracks at my disposal, I began producing my very first bad music.
Throughout high school, I would fantasize with friends about creating the ultimate band—one with a perfect name. A band that would provide us access to attractive, loose women. The name of the band was “Emptyhead and The Orange Brigade”. After high school, I became Emptyhead and released bewildering music for the next 10 years.
In 1997 I figured out how to slap labels on CD-Rs, tricked people into thinking they were real CDs and sold them in local stores. In 1998 www.emptyhead.com went up on the web and within 3 years Macworld Magazine gave me an award, remixes of mine reached Europe and my music was licensed by Smirnoff, VH-1 and other companies to foist their products.
Success went to my head and I decided to launch New Vision America in 2001-a drum and bass label. We released three 12" singles to wide acclaim. Unfortunately some assholes flew planes into the WTC Towers on 9/11/01 and economical pressures forced me to pull the plug on the label.
I have since retired the name 'Emptyhead'. I'll just put my initials on any records I make from now on. Also, there’s this great rock band in Maine called Empty Head, and I’m tired of getting their fan e-mails.
The CD you hold in your hands celebrates my creative, musical output from the years 1997 to 2007. These are the songs most worth listening to and were made when I was Emptyhead. I hope you like them. I hope you listen to them while you are having sexual intercourse.
Music gives all of us a little purpose.
I am Eric Salazar, and thank you for listening to me.
