EVE OF RELEASE is music composed and recorded by Chris McDermott in his privately owned studio called FLASH SOUND STUDIOS. Pricing for studio recording and mastering time at FLASH SOUND STUDIOS is negotiable and competitive, so email inquiries to EveofRelease@gmail.com if interested.
Christopher McDermott, the founder/engineer of FLASH SOUND STUDIOS and only member of the rock band EVE OF RELEASE, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent most of his childhood growing up in the suburbs of Philly. He began exploring music at a very early age, but didn't become serious until he started teaching himself to play the guitar as his primary instrument at the age of 14. His recording experience dates back to about 1996 when Chris was around the age of 16. He and his brother purchased their first multi-track recorder, a Tascam 4-track tape deck system, but found that it caused more problems than it helped to cure. They realized quickly that they needed to update their equipment, since the ideas they had were much larger than 4 tracks would allow. Chris' brother Russ McDermott then decided to purchase a digital system made by Roland that would allow them much more creative freedom with 8 tracks and the capability to edit audio digitally, which is far more advanced and user friendly than past techniques that were used with analog recording systems. Chris made music on his own while also making music with his brother for years using this new recorder, and slowly but surely polished his skills as an engineer, but eventually the recorder's limitations were becoming more and more apparent as newer systems emerged. The quality just wasn't meeting expectations, and Russ even commented once that they were "ahead of their time" with their past recording efforts, and so after a few hard years of financial and moral difficulties brought on by substance abuse issues, Chris decided it was time to get with the times. He claims he constantly thought about how much he wished he could afford to upgrade their equipment, even when he knew it was impossible with the addiction problems he had at the time. So finally, he made a mental decision to leave the drugs behind and focus on his one true, healthy addiction... Music. He then bought a top-of-the-line recorder made by Roland that uses up to 24 tracks and is capable of a quality high enough even for modern motion pictures, since it can record in full surround sound. This was far more than Chris could ever had asked for, so to this day it's the system he prefers to use, even while many use software based computer systems. Chris has often commented that he would rather have, "a system with multiple knobs I can physically control," rather than, "a single computer mouse that I can only move one virtual knob at a time with," and while more equipment emerged that would allow physical controls to be used even with computer based systems, Chris still maintains that the Roland does everything he needs it to do. When asked what the band name EVE OF RELEASE means, Chris answers by saying, "Imagine the most enjoyable thing you can imagine doing and realize that the eve leading up to this event is really when it's at it's most enjoyable stage. When it arrives, the excitement has really already died." So the musical journey continues with many new projects already in the works. EVE OF RELEASE is music made solely by Chris McDermott, and the music he records with his brother Russ McDermott is released under the band name THE NINE ALIGNED. The new album by EVE OF RELEASE is set to be self-titled, and the first single is now available on iTunes and Amazon MP3, as well as many other internet music stores. Band members for live performances change frequently, and thus cannot be listed here. Live show dates will be announced sometime after the official release of the first full length album.
