Gerald Scott is a gifted singer, songwriter, musician and producer who desires to follow his calling to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through music. Born into a musical family in Washington, DC, Gerald began singing in church at a very young age. Despite growing up in a house with a piano, it wasn't until he was a teenager that Gerald started serving his home church as an organist.
As a teen, Scott studied under Dr. Joyce Garrett, director of the award-winning Eastern High School Choir, co-directed by fellow local DC artist, Patrick Lundy. His ambition and dreams encouraged both Dr. Garrett and Lundy to invest a significant amount of time in him as a singer and musician. The directors allowed Gerald to compose a song sung by his graduating class at the historical Constitution Hall.
While writing music and ministering with local community and church choirs, Scott continued his love for music performance and was afforded many opportunities to sing with and play for numerous gospel artists including Daryl Coley, Kim Burrell, Vickie Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams and Isaiah Thomas. He has also accompanied numerous mainstream recording artists including Trace Adkins, the legendary, Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, Stephanie Mills, and others and yet has remained faithful to serve in his local church on a weekly basis. Some describe his music as urban contemporary gospel; however Scott’s music reaches various audiences and listeners.
When Scott began working on his first recording in 2006, he wanted to work with a group of singers who were committed to living exemplary lives as testaments to the power of Jesus Christ. This group of singers, comprised totally of family and close friends, formed Gerald Scott & Co. They released their debut project, INTRO, in 2008, and released their sophomore project, DON’T LET GO in May 2010. Gerald Scott & Co. has opened for such acts as Bishop Paul S. Morton Sr., Stephen Hurd, Jonathan Nelson, J. J. Hairston, Steve Lawrence, Melanie Daniels, Vashawn Mitchell, Z’iel, Tye Tribbett and GA, and more. God continues to open doors for the ministry of Gerald Scott & Co., and it remains to be seen where God will lead the ministry in the future.
