Liner Notes: I dedicate this album to the talented musicians I've had the pleasure of working with . . . the members of my backing band, The Big Dogs . . .
So far, The Big Dogs have included . . .
Fiddle: Tim Lorsch, Sid Walker, David Johnson
Lead Guitar: Rick Gordon, Denny Martin, Donnie Skaggs, Jim Hall
Bass Guitar: Allan J.C. Ward, Michael Spellman, Denny Martin, Doug Kahan, Ron De La Vega
Drums: Steve Holland, Ron Gannaway, Kevin Kathey, Matthew Stevens
Backing Vocals: Kim Winters, Trish Vogel, Colette Wise, Julianne Sutton, Garnet Imes
From September 8, 1996 through September 11, 1998 we performed around the Nashville area at places like The 16th Avenue Cafe, The Courtyard Cafe, The Broken Spoke, The Boardwalk Cafe, Henry's Coffeehouse, The Bluebird Cafe, The Gibson Cafe, The Music City Cafe, Douglas Corner, and special events like The Tennessee State Fair and "Barkin' in the Park" (at Centennial Park). This album is a time capsule of that period of performances.
Most of our shows were recorded on cassette, using the PA system. Although, per Murphy's Law of course, it seems like our best performances weren't recorded at all (through one snafu or another), while most every screw-up did make it to tape. Still, from these crude tapes, I searched to find these performances. I'm proud of these songs (a tip of the hat to my co-writers), and I'm thankful to the people who helped me bring them to life . . . ladies and gentlemen . . . The Big Dogs!
This is Live Dogs . . .
