Back in 2000, Joey was working on the final album for his band,The Montgomery Cliffs, and breaking into the radio business in NYC. He had written a batch of songs that did not fit into his bands style and wanted to record them. So he began to record these tunes using mandolin,acoustic guitars,harmonica, and more. He decided to call the album, "If It Aint Brooklyn, Don't Fix It". Being a city boy who loved roots music as well as modern rock,he mixed the production to reflect his influences.

After it's release, Salvia sold the homemade project at solo shows. The album was picked as one of the best do it yourself (recorded in his basement) records by the national magazine, Performing Songwriter, in 2001.

Now this version has a few extras including old 4 track cassette demos, a few tunes from a 24 track session with his 1994 band, The Third Rail, and even some songs that go back to the mid to late 1980s.

While the production may not always be as grand as what you hear from some singer-songwriters, Joey does show his knack for writing a well crafted simple song while being sincere and working in several styles. If you want to hear some of the work this honest, down to earth, real songwriter recorded in his early years, you can't go wrong getting this album. This is a great sample of his early music and whole lot more.
