about Jordi Gaspar
My name is Jordi Gaspar and I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. I am a musician. I play bass and enjoy composing. I started my musical career playing double bass and electric bass in jazz bands and I have been playing and touring in fusion, flamenco and world music bands.
I love and respect those great musicians and those great bass players, but in this project I’ve wanted to explore my own voice and ideas and find a way to explain them on my instrument. In so doing, perhaps I will connect to someone.

Liner Notes: This first album “AKIXÍ” is music collection written and/or arranged as a bass solo repertoire. That's why "BASS SOLO OPERA PRIMA".
Just two songs, “Explícitament” and “Hey Jude, Hey Gaza”, are recorded playing double bass bow and acoustic bass guitar, the rest are recorded as acoustic bass guitar solo.
“Cançó Per Bubú” is a song composed by Jordi Bonell, “Arabesque” is an adaptation from piano work by Claude Debussy. Rest are composed by Jordi Gaspar.
“Introspección” is a composition with an open solo trying to dive into the subconscious.
“Elida”, “Maruxa”, “Elisa”, “Sol Muller” are four close women portraits. I tried to connect to their respective mind when they were child, but at last I could not avoid the adult perception.
“Bad News” is a three actors game: Bad News, the Idealized Memories and the Time, who fades out the others at last.
“El Árbol”. This piece is a watercolour from my son relation ship.
“Explícitament” is a love song with explicit passion.
“Cançó Per Bubú” is a Jordi Bonell composition, adapted to acoustic bass.
“Arabesque” is an adaptation to acoustic bass guitar from the famous piano work by Debussy.
“Hey Jude, Hey Gaza” is composed flaying about Beatles song motive, and it becomes a thought about victims there.
“Akixí” means something like “now”, “here” and “my way”. It is a puzzle mixing what I expected, what I am doing and how I could manage that…
“En Pie” is just a morning composition for just one voice solo.
