Singer & songwriter. Maria Alejandra Díaz was born in Bogota, Colombia. At the age of 8 she began her career in theatre, dance and music, participating in different musicals and music groups like the band Las Chicas "Girls" directed by the Scottish Manager Sharon Gallagher. At the age of 19 years MariaD leaves her beloved Bogota, bound for a new adventure: Germany, following another of her passions, travelling and meeting other cultures. She studied Media and Communication Sciences at the University of Hamburg. In 2009 she participated in the renowned program "The X Factor”, becoming a finalist in the show. In the same year she recorded her first single called "Just for You". MariaD has worked as an actress and singer with renowned artists like Cheo Feliciano, Papi Sanchez and Mercado Negro, also in different music festivals like Latinoamericando in Italy, Kieler Nachtschicht 2011 and FACES Festival 2011 in Germany.MariaD is currently working on her latest album together with her brother José David Díaz, musician and producer. MariaD honors her latino heritage in her music, with Cumbia, Reggae and Latin Sounds. Her compositions are a mixture of Latin and European rhythms in different languages like Spanish, English and German.
