Born and raised in the South Jersey area, just outside of Philadelphia, Michele Karmin started singing as a child with her mother and four siblings. Although very rehearsed with showtunes, gospel hymns and broadway music, Karmin found herself diving into the alternative mix of the 90's when her older sister bought her the albums, LIVE "Throwing Copper" and Tori Amos "Little Earthquakes" which were Karmin's very first two cds to an ever-growing collection.
At a young age she started to hear melodies and lyrics in her head and soon began to record them on her mother's old cassette recorder. Eventually she was writing full songs, but it wasnt until she started to team up with different producers that she was able to put music behind them.
Performing so many eclectic covers growing up molded a very cross-genre songwriter. After going through somewhat of a pop-rock-diva stage and releasing her first full- length independent album with a local rock producer, the young artist decided to save up money to buy her first stage piano. Having no experience on the keys, Karmin picked up some of her old music books in attempt to teach herself how to play. It wasnt long before she started to bang the keys haphazardly in efforts of training her musical ear and fingers, that she soon was writing full songs with underlying compostions of her own for the first time.
Karmin's new found sound turned out to be quite the contrast to her earlier works, digging deeper musically and vocally into a warm soul-alternative flair. She went full circle, cycling back to her 90's alternative roots, while incorporating the plethora of styles she experienced early on.
Michele Karmin's first self-produced track, "Six Years" turned out to be her debut sound. Blending all that she once was with all that she newly discoverd, Karmin reached a heightened maturity in her writing and music, alongside a growing depth and tone to her voice.
The next full album titled, "Let Me Introduce Myself...Again" is intened for a late 2010 release. Majority of the new songs come from the collection of Karmin's piano compositions written in the last year.
