NOTE:

EARTH MOTHER LULLABIES, volume 2, includes "Hymn to a Moongoddess," from a 1,400 B.C., cuneiform tablet found near the Eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Lyrics and music were painstakingly translated by a team led by Prof. Ann Draffkorn Kilmer from the University of California at Berkeley.

This rare and precious song is Hurrian from ancient Ugarit. From over 3,000 years ago, it speaks to us of tenderness and birth. To our knowledge, this is the oldest musically notated song ever translated.

Liner Notes: Earth Mother Lullabies, Volume 1 Enchanting lullabies that relax both children and adults. Proud winner of the prestigious American Library Association’s Most Notable Children’s Recording award. As a child, I felt the nurturing and soothing qualities of lullabies. They elicit in me the same response today as I sing them; often bringing a beautiful sense of mystery. This is not surprising because the loving adults who composed them in the quiet, sometimes lonely hours inevitably mused about the long uncertain path that lay ahead. It has always been so. This thread of human hope and longing lies within us all, regardless of the era or culture from which we spring. Lullabies, then, are not as simple in expression as we might tend to think, for they embody our deepest hopes and dreams. Let the breeze that blows through and connects us with countless generations and cultures of the world in lullabies carry you to our common heritage. Pleasant and peaceful dreams! Liner Notes: Earth Mother Lullabies, Volume 3 “…Ballingham’s vocals carry a beautiful intensity, and radiate a deep sense of warmth and compassion not likely to be found anywhere else…” Leading Edge Review Reading the thousands of letters we have received from mothers, fathers, gr andparents, children and many others who have found our music soothing, we have come to understand how much everyone benefits from being nurtured. The need for love knows no age barrier. It all comes down to caring - in the deepest sense – about each other, and about our home, the Earth. We are all connected. These tried and true lullabies will smooth the transition as day turns to night, as being together unfolds into being alone. May you nurture each other and all that you touch.
