Track Descriptions
*************************************************************
My Way Back is an acoustic/desert rock mix with cathedral keyboards and alien special fx. The lyrics define "finding my way back to you". We all end up lost sometimes and find our way back to what we truly care about.
*************************************************************
Ebb and Flow starts with a catchy acoustic guitar riff. It is followed by a pre chorus and transitions into the chorus singing "here we go / ebb and flow". Ebb and Flow was originally slated to be the title track for the album. In the end it was a great second track.
*************************************************************
Anywhere That We Go was hard to name during recording. Lyrics were re-written several times. The final version depicts eloping to Vegas. Nobody does that right? At least not the author of the song Jesse David. However the song is catchy with lyrics "Set Me Free" embedded with violins and acoustic strumming. A few vocal lines inadvertently emulate David Bowie in in the section that goes "I Got You" (delay delay).
*************************************************************
"For you to cure me from Hyper Delirium". This anthem is sang during the chorus of this catchy tune ad is arguably the heaviest mix on the album. It also borders on acoustic and rock, even though no electric guitars are found anywhere on A Friend Can Follow. The acoustic strumming and delay sound is accompanied by a keyboard and violins. Lyrics describe a society addicted to electronic mail and texting. The second verse has a line that describes picking up a computer and smashing it on the floor. Who knows, maybe we all become ipods in the end?
*************************************************************
Festive Strum was one of the first mixes created for Friend as an instrumental. This track is a return to form for Jesse David. People will recognize Jesse's playing style, strumming heavily on his acoustic with a lowered D tuning. The melody is joined by congas, symphony, bells and beats. This one is also a great holiday mixer.
*************************************************************
"How can I even see the next Overpass to find my way out" is sang during this classical guitar laden mix. Overpass was originally written in 2006 for a previous Sodacon studio release that never came to fruition. Jesse David spent more time on Overpass than any other track, working tediously on the classical guitar and vocals. The end result is a mix that is forever etched as one of Jess's best tracks of all time. A constant live show staple.
*************************************************************
Lucky Streak was initially meant to be a song about the credit crisis in the mortgage industry. Ultimately that didn't work. It would be likened to writing a song about hobbits or algebra. Yet, when the theme changed to gambling (here we come Vegas again) it depicts a person who can't walk away from the tables because they think they are going to hit the big jackpot. It ends with a car chase, screaming and police sirens. It is also fun to drive around Vegas at night listening to Lucky Streak. Try it sometime. ;0)
*************************************************************
Classical One/ The Pollinator sounds just like the title. It was a myriad of classical riffs Jess put together throughout the last year. The part at the end with the violins and buzzing ended up sounding like a humming bird pollinating something. A great instrumental.
*************************************************************
Go For It is the longest track on the album and arguably the best. The live version of this song is four minutes longer. In life you can't sit back and wait for it to happen. Sometimes you just have to go for it.
*************************************************************
Say You'll Be Mine is a mix that was too late for valentines day, yet it will be ready for next year. "I don't want to email or text, I want to see you". A peaceful and pleasant way for the Friend finale.
*************************************************************
A Friend Can Follow also available on CD at Sodacon.com. A Sodacon EP is set for release in September of 2008.

"My Way Back" written by Jesse David April, 2008 (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2008
{verse 1}
Took a hike to get some air
Dried up lungs in disrepair
traveler stranded - on the road
walk for miles in the cold
{pre-chorus}
Lost in the the desert - without you
Thought that I'd never return
Look now who's back again
Have a gift waiting for you
{chorus}
and when I'm lost -
You've taken me in
Climbed my way up
To the top of your den
Even when I've fell
I've found my way back
All I need in the world
find my way back to you
{verse 2}
My traveler friend stumbled along
emotional see saw all locked up
He never had luck that he could tell
Pushed forward without a reason to dwell
{pre-chorus 2}
Lost on the ocean - without you
Thought that I'd sink to the bottom
Now that I'm back on land
Find my way back to you
{chorus}
and when I'm lost -
You've taken me in
Climbed my way up
To the top of your den
Even when I fell
I've found my way back
All I need in the world
find my way back to you
(bridge)
Alien fly by - control it with my mind
Love can be a mirage - the song, is the fountain of truth

"Ebb and Flow" written by Jesse David Thursday, March 6, 2008 (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2008
First verse:
Let's hide for awhile - feel's so good to kiss your soft face
We'll run far away - every time you make me crazy
Bridge:
How do you know if we could be wrong -
Tomorrow it could be long gone
I'll make a promise right now -that I'll never leave you
If I do -
Chorus:
I try to give and not take -
doesn't matter to me -
Here we go - ebb and flow
Honey let's not wait
doesn't matter to me -
Here we go - ebb and flow
Second verse:
Let's add up the miles -
there's endless things in my life to replace
won't give you away
Fly with me while the heavens sing
Bridge:
You never know - when I sing my songs -
Am I lying through the microphone
I may not be John Mayer but I know how to please you
I do
Chorus:
I try to give and not take -
doesn't matter to me -
Here we go - ebb and flow
Honey let's not wait
doesn't matter to me
Cause we mix well
Here we go - ebb and flow

"Hyper Delirium" written by Jesse David Saturday, March 8, 2008 (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2008
{verse 1}
I suffer from Hyper Delirium - checking my inbox again and again
I never knew that it could be so strong - I just have to see if you've written back
{bridge}
Don't want to be alone -
You are the only cure that I know
and I can't wait another minute more
{Chorus}
So frustrated - how long I've waited
Message a lifetime away -
So frustrated - how long can I take it -
For you to cure me from Hyper Delirium
{verse 2}
Dark circles on my eyes from this vicious strain - I've been up all night pacing back and forth
I could drive over to see if you're there - or pick up this computer smash it on the floor
{bridge}
Don't want to be alone -
Left with these chats on a screen or notes
because I just want something physical
{Chorus}
So frustrated - how long I've waited
Message a lifetime away -
So frustrated - how long can I take it -
For you to cure me from Hyper Delirium

"Overpass" written by Jesse David Tuesday, July 2006 (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2008
{verse 1}
There's something below the pass
As I'm seeing the road below
There's something below the pass
As I feel velocity
There's something to know about
Yet it snuck right up on me
{chorus}
I'm never one to complain about
Something I haven't control about
How can I even see the next
Overpass to find my way out
{verse 2}
Slide in the gear below
The ride always takes me
This is unbelievable
Too heavy the intensity
Always have to look up to someone
Or be of service anyhow
{chorus}
I'm never one to complain about
Something I haven't control about
How can I even see the next
Overpass to find my way out
{verse 3}
There's something below the pass
As I'm seeing the road below
Locked in a speaker grove
As I feel velocity
There's something to know about
Yet it snuck right up on me

"Lucky Streak" written by Jesse David Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2008
{verse 1}
I can feel the waves of opinion cast downward
they say that odds are piled up and not in my favor
them big odds
{pre-chorus}
why take a minor win and just walk away
Stay at the table there's more bets to be made
losers walk down the road
{chorus}
and I don't care if the markets crash -
You see I'm gonna beat the house because I'm playing to win
and who should care if indices fall
Takes one lucky streak to walk away with it all
roll them dices
{verse 2}
I get told that you'd best count your breaks while your winning
Well l keep rolling don't want an albatross on momentum
and decline...
{pre-chorus}
have a special feeling that today is my day
Dressing up to kill and play the numbers away
Maybe I'll just end up broke
{chorus}
and I don't care if the markets crash -
You see I'm gonna beat the house when I start playing to win
and who should care if indices fall
Just need one lucky streak to walk away with it all
and I don't care if the markets crash -
and who should care if indices fall
and I don't care if the micies crack -
and who should care where them dicies fall
{chorus}

"Go For It" written by Jesse David Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2008
{verse 1}
Go for it now-
Nothing left to lose
shoulder some doubt
yet that I cannot choose
To look back to you
don't know what to do
yet it's all played out
I was off the mark - painfully wrong
this time it's through
{pre-chorus}
The cold of this April never ends
waiting for springtime to begin
Seasons always have to change
and yet they feel like they're never the same
{chorus}
I wish I had no problems
Wish I hadn't misspoke that night
Wish I hadn't used up my thousand wishes
I'd throw them all back down the well to
bring back my lost love
{verse 2}
Was out and about -
Trying to clear my head
and the way she moved
Connected me in to -
and the way she moved
connected me to
the way I hadn't felt in years
Bringing back
all about you -
and I wanted her too...
{pre-chorus}
Driving up and down these suburbs streets
waiting for the rain to miss a beat
seasons always have to change
and yet they're always the same
{chorus}
I wish I had no problems
Wish I hadn't misspoke that night
Wish I hadn't used up my thousand wishes
I'd throw them all back down the well to
bring back my lost love
{chorus}

"Say You'll Be Mine" written by Jesse David Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2008
I make promises - you know that I will keep
All my possessions are nothing - without you
I am human - I make tons of mistakes
Something takes me - into a mode
and I lose my way -
Say you'll be mine - valentine -
One is enough love for me -
However it goes is fine
This world of downloads- and email - will never do -
I need the real thing - I want to be with you
Somehow I'm locked in a dreamworld you created for me
I pray that it will end - that I'll wake up with you next to me
Say you'll be mine - valentine -
Your love is all I could need-
However it goes is fine

- Alternative, Pop
- Sodacon
- 07/04/2008

Liner Notes: Electro-Magnetics are used in cell phones, microwave ovens. Some even blame recent brain tumors from Electro-Magnetics used in such devices.
Electro-Magnet is also the title of the third Sodacon studio album produced by Jesse David. It began with a collection of recordings in August of 2007 and was finished in December of that year. He released an updated version of in July of 2008.
Highlights include "The Avenues", "Now You're On Track", and "Love Trails". In between are the Cold Voyager tracks, tied together through instrumentals that take the album into recurring theme and completing a story at the end. Lyrical themes depict being double crossed by friends, loathing of sedentary office work at his prior job, and being tipsy in The Avenues of Salt Lake City. Salt Lake's hidden gem of an artist doesn't disappoint with Electro-Magnet.

"Different Everything" written by Jesse David (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2007
{verse 1} When things are setting at their end- you'll always be my friend
Always include you in my plans - we're going to set the night alive - If it makes a difference
{pre-chorus} Everything in this world is rolling away - twisting away
well if I made a mistake - give me one more shot I got what it takes -
{chorus}
If it Makes a difference - understand - have you in my plans
hope you realize - nothing could ever take your place -
If it makes a difference - understand -
have you in my plan - Don't you know?
i never belonged as a fixture in that race -
{verse 2}This life is never certain - I keep making wrong turns at another Crossroad
The wheel it turned so long ago - it was turning then and it'll keep turning now
{pre-chorus} Every single time I feel the pressure - driving up the stakes
What is there really to say? give me one more shot I have what it takes
{chorus}
If it Makes a difference - understand - have you in my plans
hope you realize - nothing could ever take your place -
If it makes a difference - understand -
have you in my plan - Don't you know?
i never belonged as a fixture in that race -
{bridge}
There were times I had to go it alone
all the times I had to go it alone
all the times I had to step up to the plate
You gotta step up to the plate!
{pre-chorus} I was never a guy - to overemphasize - dramatize - lets just be one
Can I go with you - back to your place?
{chorus}
If it Makes a difference - understand - have you in my plans
hope you realize - nothing could ever take your place -
If it makes a difference - understand -
have you in my plan - Don't you know?
i never belonged as a fixture in that race -

"Always Warm" written by Jesse David (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2007
Come inside and close the gate -
Leave behind distractions that your feeling of late
Comes closer to me - let me look at you
Your beautiful - knowing that will never change
Your beautiful - always warmth captivating
Driving by your street again -
Watch you from a distance - from the shadows
Every decent thought I feel emanates from you
Your beautiful - something that will never change
Your beautiful - in the moments that you share with me
Your beautiful - knowing that will never change
Your beautiful - always warmth captivating
Your beautiful - knowing that will never change
Your beautiful - always warmth captivating

"The Avenues" written by Jesse David (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2007
It's been a fine day - in the avenues
Took a one way - up the tracks for someone new
There was a meeting - we met on Craig's List
If I don't make it - here's what we're going to do
You should find me - share no pity
were gonna break rules - in Salt Lake City
Not going to wait for daddy's permission -
we're going to take love drugs - while we make love
(love love)
She was so tipsy - and I was online -
was nothing special - right place at right time -
we're getting no jobs by the capital
Getting told no out in front of the tabernacle
Find me - share no pity
were gonna break rules - in Salt Lake City
Not going to wait for mothers permission -
won't have to confess - this holy act of contrition
So come and find me - share no pity
were gonna break rules - in Salt Lake City
Not going to wait for daddies permission -
so won't you treat my love down baby glad that your fishing
Come and find me - share no pity
were gonna break rules - in Salt Lake City
Not going to wait for daddy's permission -
so treat my love down - treat my love down down

"Love Trails" written by Jesse David (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2007
Some trails are twisting away - go on forever
end in heartbreak
Take me out for the night - Lets take it slowly
if it's all right
Move love down a new path - lets try a sip of
seduction on tap
(chorus)
Strange tales - of you and me - stuck in the future
living the past - feel free -to come back -While I keep exploring a trail that will last
will believe in you if you can still believe in me
Love trails flow everywhere - deep as the ocean
and all thats down there
You and me- never at all- when were we ever?
Really don't care
Waiting for the next in line - if you want to go - another bus is on time
(chorus)
Strange tales - of you and me - stuck in the future
living the past - wake me - when you believe - what we had was futile - was not meant to last
I'm a creature of change -
Don't always have to get my way
That one time you came back around, but I was gone

{long intro}
{intro - 8 measures}
{verse 1}
DIscreetly turn on the silence -
to help place something in the void
Run a quarter marathon, and then a 3rd -
yet can never reach the full -
{pre-chorus}
well thats all going to change
We were never supposed to feel that way again
wish for my lovers silent glow -
Help me with just one fantasy instead of emptiness I know-0
{Chorus}
You're another golden find
Ever always on my mind
It feels so empty without you here again
One another golden find
{verse 2}
{solo 4 measures}
This has been the worst week of my life -
I was duped once - and then yet again -
Find out through some source somehow that someone's not your friend
To top it off, their spreading all those lies -
Well keep on talking because that talking gets you nowhere -
Only got time - to hit Bounce again
{pre-chorus}
well it only makes it fair
Hope I never have to feel so damn empty ever again
I don't have time if you're not there
One minute you support me and the next you just don't care-0
{Chorus}
You're another golden find
Ever always on my mind
It feels so empty without you here again
One another golden find
Ever always on my mind
Ever always on my mind

"Cold Voyager" written by Jesse David (ASCAP) (C)(P) Sodacon Music 2007
{intro}
{verse 1}
There was nothing I would not have stopped
To get away from the racket in the world
All the thoughts that swallowed me - that I could never embrace
What you've been selling - doesn't last when I finally leave the place
{Bridge}
Frustration in this cell -
Cutting the ties - that so well
in the end - it looks like - we're all blind
and so am I can't you tell?
{Chorus}
All is well - that ends well
Couldn't justify slaving in your sedentary cell
Well I won't walk away - I'll run -
I don't have to answer anymore -
The Cold Voyager is gone
{verse 2}
So ceremonious another meeting wasting all my time
One more powerpoint and I think I have to blow my mind
It's energy so wasted - Resources wasted
I don't know nothing - you're not my mother hen I'll get by without you
{Bridge}
Frustration in this cell -
Cutting the ties - that hold so well
in the end - it looks like - we're all blind
and so am I
{Chorus}
All is well - that ends well
Couldn't justify slaving in your sedentary cell
Well I won't walk away - I'll run -
I don't have to answer anymore -
The Cold Voyager is gone
What I find - is that too many years gone by -
wasted on empty promises -
because of the company - losing too much sleep
{Solo}
The Cold Voyager is gone
he's moving on...

"One Night" (C)(P)written by Jesse Crawford Sodacon Music 2007 (ASCAP)
{Verse 1}
Everything - let me down
Since the day - that she left town -
Every stroke - does not strike par -
Then I land that eagle -
You're like a won trophy
{chorus}
and if you're ever gonna win -
don't let her see you crying again -
one night of miracles -
and if I'm ever gonna win -
I have to get her smiling again -
where you left off
{Verse 2}
It all went up - like on a scene -
we played the part - as if on a movie screen
She got me down - on the clean white floor -
The love scenes play - over and over added frame by frame -
{chorus}
and if you're ever gonna win -
don't let her see you crying again -
one night of miracles -
and if I'm ever gonna win -
I have to get her smiling again -
where you left off
