"That Was Now , This Is Then"

"I is a very unsophisticated percussionist - always in search of trying to find myself 'simply there' - solid & understated in simple necessity as the muse requires".

These songs are presented to you from my current endeavor titled "That Was Now. This Is Then" (c,2007) ... about 'history repeating'.

"PolitbureauBlues - Demockracy" is my contribution to the growing list of American & World protest songs. This version is the short & soft cut. It is best performed as a hard song. In it's original composition, i include another verse and additional lyric to the chorus. I hope that you appreciate the relevance of these lyrics. i urge all Americans to increase the governing of our politicians -"God save America"

"Wedding Partay - RSVP" is my contribution to the inspiration that follows me from days of my youth; listening to German music in the morning; Spanish music in the afternoon; and country music in the evenings. This version is the short & soft ‘polka’ cut. It is best performed as a sprightly country-cajun shoesole shuffling dance song. I wrote it as a picture of wedding karma. I’ve been dating the same gal since 1969 – we were married by an Indian priest. I fondly refer to our relationship as “38 years of dreaded bliss”. i hope that you appreciate the painting of these lyrics.

The phrase that i have penned to describe the musical inspirations that continue to shape the songs i write, i fondly refer to as South-Central Texas "Hard Heritage". This inspiration crosses over to me from the paths of many genres: Spiritual; late 50's Tex-Mex & German; Rock-and-Roll to Hard Rock; Country; BigBand/Jazz; Folk; ...etc...

I've been asked many times why i chose the name "The Crowing Cocks" - and just to be fair to my live fan base - i'll keep the answer simple and short - it was inspired.

i am currently drumming with The Tim Hall Band - can be seen on MySpace /TimHallBand; Also with Los Kolaches - can be barely seen on uTube @ LosKolaches,Flatonia; and my 'labor of love' - "The Crowing Cocks".

Thank You - & Dominus Vobiscum……… "don't bogart these songs"

Liner Notes: “DEMOCKRACY”; or,“Dem. Grand Ol’ Paidtriotic Politbureau Blues”. c Copyright 2005, e.Briseño – Lyrics, Melody. Music Interpretation & Direction by e.Briseño. Music (this version) by L. FitzSimmons & e.Briseño. Produced by L.Fitzsimmons Alternative Title : “Politbureau Blues” , @ 2m:37s "I wanna tell you all a story ‘bout a nations way of government. The way some politicians make the law is not worth one American red-cent. You’ve got to read their lips on either side of forked-tongue to know what they don’t say; And read between the line of written words to separate the black and white from grey. Auction block for politicians up for sale – line , sinker , hook and bait. These polit-bureaus keep us in the dark – wake up ! – before it gets too late. Pharmamedical drug money banking oil energy to name a few, Are buying votes from politicians who are selling out their interest in you. Native circle the wagon - Pilgrim put on the war paint. Line up into formation – vote and fight like a farmer. There is a money hungry , power thirsty industry of war and lies, That leaves a world of heritage, religion, sanctity, and culture - compromised ! Proclaim this declaration, independence, constitution of a peoples free! GOD save America the beautiful star spangled banner country ‘tis of thee ! Native circle the wagon - Pilgrim put on the war paint. Line up into formation – vote and fight like a farmer."

Liner Notes: The genre/groove that i apply to this melody is "TejChiCajuno" - definitely an example of South-Central Texas "Hard Heritage". It came to me as i was driving home after a wedding gig during the Summer of 2006; and i immediately knew & appreciated in my soul & heart that the words and melody were flowing to me courtesy of "The Perfect Timer's Muse", and that the fusion of TejasCountry/Chicano/Cajun was about to start dancing in celebration. i hope that you enjoy the sharing and feeling of this song. Peace.
