Drummer Garrett Smith from the defunct Los Angeles band Texture, embarks on his first solo outing in early 2007 under the moniker of The Ram Boola Black. His first solo ep featured songs that were a self-contained snap shot of a diamond in the rough. Raw and unpolished. With determination to spread his song writing wings, in early 2009 he released The Ram Boola Black-II which was a full length album that was focused on having a more pop rock style infused with more of an intricate musical bed. Several of the songs have been featured on an array of different type podcast from podshow.com that have been met with positive reviews. In 2010 he released his 3rd album titled "Getting It Out" which took the listener on a more edgy ride musically. The album consisted of songs of a different flavor style wise such as the Latin spiced single "If We We're In Mexico" while still delivering the pop rock harmonies and quirkiness that The Ram Boola Black does so well. In 2011, he released "Fooled With Isolation" which took the listener on more of an acoustic rock based journey along with displaying a much heavier lyric overtone.
Currently Garrett Smith is prepping the new 2012 Ram Boola Black album titled "Anywhere" for release as well as playing drums for the local Houston hard rock band Savage Evolution.
