Rip Your Music with Windows Media Player

When using Windows Media Player (WMP), TuneCore strongly recommends you rip your music into .WAV files (what does this mean?).

This tutorial is written for Windows Media Player Version 11 ( available here ) running on a PC using Microsoft Windows XP. If you are using Windows Media Player Version 11 for Microsoft Vista, the look may differ slightly, but the steps will be similar.

Change your settings to import (rip) your music to .wav
Step 1
Open Windows Media Player.
Click the RIP button at the top of the screen.
When the menu pops up, change "Format" to ".wav".

Use Windows Media Player to Import (rip) your music to your computer.
step 2
Place your CD into you computer.
You'll see your CD appear in Windows Media Player. It'll also appear on the left side of the screen, below your Library.
PLEASE NOTE: your CD's name, artist, and track names might be wrong or missing. Before importing, you can click the names to fix them so you can easily find your album and songs in your library later.
Click the START RIP button on the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Windows Media Player will import your CD, making high-quality .wav files and putting them in your music library.

Listen to your ripped music to check it.
step 3
When the import's finished, click the Library button to go to your music library.
To find your album quickly, click the Recently Added button.
Your album will be found under the artist's name. Click a song to play it and make sure it sounds the way you want.

Congratulations! Your music is now ripped into .WAV Format on your computer!
