Marketing Analyst

Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Analytics, the Marketing Analyst will be instrumental in driving continued growth for TuneCore through data-driven decisions. S/he will intimately understand the customer journey (from acquisition to retention) in order to guide our marketing strategy. The Marketing Analyst will work with all areas of the marketing team to uncover opportunities and insights to inform testing for product optimization and campaign iteration.

S/he should thrive to make an impact, provide thoughtful decision-making, and drive data analysis from problem identification to recommendations. This person will be responsible for the planning, analysis and generation of insights/recommendations. S/he will report to marketing team, but will work in a cross-functional capacity supporting finance as well as product development.


Analysis & Reporting

  • Synthesize internal and external data across multiple platforms and from various sources
  • Create easily accessible and digestible reports for marketing team use
  • Create and publish performance reports that track KPIs and ROI; present findings and recommendations during performance meetings
  • Design and execute cross-sectional and cohort studies of acquisition and retention marketing campaigns
  • Monitor and analyze customer targeting and segmentation across all marketing channels (including on-site, email, social, digital and offline) and make recommendations for optimizations
  • Create, maintain, and improve upon new and existing reporting/analysis in order extract actionable insights and make decisive recommendations that will drive decisions across the business
  • Liaise between multiple departments and teams to develop reports and analysis relating to marketing, financial performance, product performance and consumer behavior across all channels
  • Communicate insights in a concise, visually engaging, and insightful manner (reports, dashboards, documents, presentations) – Convert complex data findings into text, tables, graphs and data visualizations
  • Demonstrate strong business and analytical acumen when reviewing data for inconsistencies or anomalies that could skew analytical results

Testing, Valuations & Strategy

  • Partner with marketing and product teams to define variables, design experiments and test hypotheses
  • Conduct analytics for A/B and multivariate tests, create business cases, strategies and prepare forecasts and related models
  • Work across the marketing team to identify, implement, and analyze test programs that positively impact acquisition and retention rates
  • Assist with new business development and research projects (conduct research and write proposal)
  • Create and evaluate methods for amassing data, including surveys, interviews, questionnaires and opinion polls
  • Present new ideas around marketing, customer experience, and data technology
  • Stay abreast of latest industry topics, trends, news, methodologies, and tools

Data Integrity & Tracking

  • Manage Google Analytics and Google Manager integration across all systems
  • Configure tools to collect and use web analytics data in order to make recommendations intended to increase traffic, conversions and revenue
  • Monitor data integrity and work with teams to troubleshoot discrepancies
  • Continually review and make recommendations for the improvement of our tracking and technology in order to build a more quantitative and data-driven approach to customer marketing
  • Conduct gap analysis to determine the status of existing data
  • Document processes, workflows, and data models with an eye for improvement


  • 5+ years of experience in an analytic based role in an eCommerce environment with a focus on digital marketing analytics
  • Proficient with mathematics, statistics, and analytical processes
  • Very experienced with analytics tools and automation platforms including social listening tools, web analytics and other attribution, measurement, and optimization products
  • Experience in working with website optimization tools for A/B and multivariate testing (Optimizely experience a plus)
  • Experience with web analytics and website tagging (Google Tag Manager)
  • Hands-on experience implementing strategic, analytical initiatives in the digital space
  • Strong Excel and SQL skills required. Familiarity with programming languages strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of and exposure to data structure and data modeling concepts
  • Thorough understanding of statistics, customer profiling and segmentation
  • Ability to present & communicate complex data reports and statistics to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage numerous large and small-scale projects that have multiple steps and varying deadlines, working with fervor to meet all deadlines
  • Highly motivated with the ability to function independently and solve problems creatively and quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and a high level of professionalism
  • Strong presentation skills

  • Team player and comfortable working cross-functionally across varying levels

  • Desire to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed
  • A strong knowledge of the digital music industry is a plus
  • BS/BA degree in related field
