On our second go-around in the Borough of Kings, we were ecstatic to be back in the comfy confines of the Living Room in Williamsburg for TuneCore Live. This month, we presented a line up of Panda Elliot, Frances Cone and Grace Weber – and they did not disappoint!
The weather was gorgeous and though it’s getting darker a little earlier these days, the rooftop vibe with a Manhattan skyline backdrop provided a perfect start to the evening. Our friends from Swisher Sweets, CeleBuzz and Mirrored Media were out and about, and it was great to see the Brooklyn TuneCore staff hanging with artists, friends, and fans.
First up, all the way from Buenos Aires, was a cosmic power pop performance from Panda Elliot. Panda wowed the audience right out the gate, rocking a bass guitar that looks like it was straight out of a New Order music video. Upbeat, catchy rock music was just what the doctor ordered – and while much of it was sung in Spanish, everyone seemed to be feeling it, (a Cure cover never hurts!).
Following Panda’s performance was Brooklyn-based four piece Frances Cone. Fronted by vocalist/keyboardist Christina Cone and her smokey, soulful melodies, the indie-pop quartet powered through a set that included more than a few numbers from their upcoming record. Frances Cone’s instrumental tightness, harmonies and varying tempos had the whole room swaying.
The final artist of the night, Grace Weber, nearly burned the place down! With a penchant for writing strong pop songs built in old school soul and R&B, Grace and her exceptionally talented backing band ripped through a heartfelt set of songs that left everyone wanting more.
We’re starting to get really comfortable here in our hometown, and we’re hugely thankful to all the fans and TuneCore Artists who were able to come hang out with us. The good news is, we’ll be back at it again next month! More details on that to come, but if you want to keep up with our monthly series, head over to our TuneCore Live Facebook page. Thanks again to our pals at Swisher Sweets, CeleBuzz and Mirrored Media for helping us put on such a smashing event. Make sure to check out the photo gallery below:
