On Friday, December 11, TuneCore was thrilled to host a panel of guests to break down some of the basics around one of the most popular streaming platforms on the planet.
TuneCore and Spotify have been partners for years, and it’s been exciting to grow alongside them. As Spotify has continued to roll out new features and options for artists to take advantage of, the service as really become another one-stop shop for fans to discover and engage with them.
During our conversation, Spotify’s Indie Label Relations Manager David Ecker laid out some of the history of playlisting a Spotify, what the editors go through, and how to better utilize the Spotify For Artists portal.
TuneCore Artist Charlotte Sands – whose single ‘Dress’ just made it onto Spotify’s Best of Pop 2020 ‘Fresh Finds’ official playlist – was able to weigh in and offer advice from the artist standpoint. She speaks about the importance of preparedness, and making sure you don’t put all your eggs in one basket as it pertains to landing playlist placement.
Finally TuneCore’s Artist and Partner Relations Specialist Daniel Iammatteo was able to keep the conversation lively with input around utilizing data and analytics, pitching your songs for playlists, and utilizing TuneCore in conjunction with Spotify For Artists.
